How to Select the Right PE Model
1. Match feed opening to maximum lump size
The feed opening width should be at least 1.2× the largest expected lump dimension. For a 600 mm maximum lump, a PE900 series machine provides adequate margin; a PE600×900 would be borderline and risk blockage.
2. Match capacity to the downstream circuit
The jaw crusher should run at 70–85% of its rated capacity for best jaw plate life and bearing longevity. Size up if your target throughput is near the top of the published range.
3. Consider target product size when setting CSS
A tighter CSS produces finer output but reduces throughput and increases jaw plate wear rate. For coarse primary crushing ahead of a secondary cone or impact crusher, run the CSS as open as the downstream machine can accept.
