Product Overview
What Is a Crawler Cone Crusher Plant?
The crawler cone crusher plant mounts an HP-series hydraulic cone crusher, frequency-conversion feeder, return screen, and a full conveyor circuit on a 60-tonne hydraulic crawler chassis. The plant operates in a closed circuit – returning oversized material automatically to the crusher until it meets the product specification – and generates its own power on-board, requiring no external electricity or civil foundation.
Three models cover a feed size range of 150–260 mm and motor powers from 160 KW to 280 KW. The HP cone crusher at the heart of each model uses a laminated crushing principle that increases the proportion of cubical product and fine material while significantly reducing needle-shaped particles – the output quality that aggregate producers and asphalt plants require. Both hybrid (diesel-electric) and full-electric drive options are available.

Key Features & Advantages
-
Laminated Crushing - More Cubical Product, Fewer Fines Wasted
The HP cone crusher uses a multi-layer particle-on-particle crushing action rather than single-point nip. This laminated principle increases the proportion of cubical aggregate and fine material in the product, and substantially reduces needle-shaped and flaky particles - meeting specification without downstream reshaping.

-
Hydraulic Tramp Iron Release - Fast Cavity Clearance
Bi-directional hydraulic tramp-iron release cylinders allow uncrushable objects to pass through the crushing cavity and be expelled without stopping the machine. The cavity clears and resumes full production within seconds, eliminating the manual dig-outs that cause extended downtime on conventional spring-cone plants.

-
Interchangeable Cavity Profiles - From Fine to Coarse in One Machine
The crushing cavity can be switched between short-head extra-fine and standard coarse profiles to change the product size range without replacing the entire crusher head. This allows one plant to serve both secondary and tertiary crushing roles across different contracts or material types.

-
Hydraulic CSS Adjustment - Change Product Size in Minutes
Closed-side setting is adjusted by hydraulic motor at any time during operation. The operator changes product size from the control panel without stopping the crusher, making it fast to respond to changing specification requirements or compensate for liner wear.

-
Single-Operator Wireless Remote - One Person Loads and Positions the Plant
The crawler undercarriage is controlled by wireless remote, allowing a single operator to drive the plant onto and off a flatbed trailer without ground crew assistance. On site, the same remote steers the plant into position across rough terrain, keeping relocation time to a minimum.

-
Compact & Road-Legal - Minimal Site Preparation
The overall machine envelope meets national road transport requirements, eliminating the need for special-permit haulage on most routes. On site, the flat ground bearing requirement is low, and no concrete pads or anchor bolts are needed - deploy directly on compacted quarry floor.

-
Flexible Drive Options - Diesel-Electric or Full Electric
All models support both diesel-electric (on-board generator) and full-electric (grid connection) drive configurations. Sites with available grid power can run on electricity alone, significantly reducing fuel cost and emissions. Switching between modes requires no mechanical changes.

What Is the Working Principle of the Crawler Cone Crusher Plant?
Pre-crushed material (typically discharged from a primary jaw or impact crusher) is metered into the HP cone crusher by the variable-speed frequency-conversion feeder. Inside the cone crusher, the eccentric-driven mantle gyrates within the bowl, progressively squeezing and fracturing material through laminated compression until it reaches the closed-side setting and falls through.
Crushed product discharges onto the under-screen conveyor and is delivered to the return screen. Material that meets the product specification passes through the screen and is conveyed by the main belt conveyor to a stockpile or the next processing stage. Oversize is directed back to the cone crusher inlet via the return belt conveyor, forming a closed circuit that guarantees product top size.
The transfer conveyor bridges the return screen discharge and the crusher feed opening, routing material efficiently between components regardless of their relative positions on site. All conveyors fold hydraulically for transport.

What is the Difference Between a Cone Crusher Plant and an Impact Crusher Plant?
A cone crusher is suited to hard, abrasive rock such as granite, basalt, and iron ore. It crushes by compression, producing low wear-part consumption on hard material. An impact crusher is more effective on soft-to-medium rock such as limestone and concrete rubble, producing excellent particle shape at lower capital cost, but blow bar wear increases sharply on hard abrasive feed. For granite, quartzite, or any rock above approximately 200 MPa compressive strength, the cone plant is the correct choice.
Can the THP Series Operate in an Open Circuit Without the Return Screen?
Yes – the return screen and return conveyor can be bypassed, and the plant can discharge all crusher output onto the main conveyor for classification by a separate static or mobile screen. Open-circuit operation is sometimes used when the downstream screen has capacity to handle the full product stream, or when two products are being blended before secondary screening.
How is the Closed-side Setting Selected for the Required Product Size?
The CSS is typically set at 60–70% of the desired top product size to allow for the spread in particle sizes produced by compression crushing. For example, a 20 mm top-size product normally requires a CSS of approximately 12–14 mm. The hydraulic adjustment system allows the operator to dial in the exact setting from the control panel and verify it with a lead ball drop before starting production.
What Liner Materials are Available?
Standard liners are high-manganese steel (Mn18Cr2), suitable for most quarry applications. For highly abrasive feed such as quartzite or siliceous river pebble, we offer premium high-manganese-molybdenum alloy liners with approximately 30–50% longer service life. Liner selection is confirmed at the order stage based on material sample hardness and silica content.
Is Full-electric Operation Available on all Three Models?
Yes. All three THP models support full-electric drive via an external power connection in addition to the standard diesel-generator configuration. In full-electric mode, the on-board generator is bypassed and the plant runs entirely from grid supply. This is the preferred configuration for permanent or semi-permanent installations in regions where grid power cost is significantly lower than diesel fuel.
