Can a PEX Fine Jaw Crusher Replace a Cone Crusher in a Secondary Crushing Role?

For softer materials (limestone, coal, soft sandstone) at moderate throughput, yes — a PEX machine can serve as a secondary crusher and reduce cost versus a cone. For hard, highly abrasive materials (granite, quartzite, iron ore) at high throughput, a cone crusher's lower wear cost and higher capacity typically make it the better choice. How is the CSS Adjusted on a PEX Fine Jaw Crusher?

Standard PEX models use rear-wedge CSS adjustment: loosen the lock bolt, move the wedge to open or close the gap, retighten. This requires the machine to be stopped. Hydraulic CSS adjustment is available as an option, allowing gap changes under load in under five minutes.

What is the Difference Between PE and PEX Fine Jaw Crusher?

PE crushers have a wide, square-ish feed opening designed for large primary feed. PEX crushers have a narrower, elongated opening suited to smaller, pre-crushed feed material. The PEX chamber geometry produces finer, more uniform output at the same CSS, making it the preferred choice for secondary crushing or fine primary crushing applications.

What Jaw Plate Material is Supplied as Standard?

All PEX models are supplied with Mn13Cr2 manganese-chromium jaw plates and side liners as standard. High-chrome (Cr26) or bi-metallic plates are available as upgrade options for extremely abrasive materials or applications where longer change intervals are a priority.

How does the 6CX Differ from a Standard PE Jaw Crusher?

The 6CX uses a deeper chamber with a steeper nip angle, a heavier eccentric shaft, and a fully welded high-strength steel frame. These differences deliver a higher crushing force-to-weight ratio, better feed control for large irregular lumps, and a more uniform discharge size compared to PE-series machines of equivalent feed opening — at similar or lower energy per ton.

How Long do Mn13Cr2 Jaw Plates Last on Granite?

On granite (200–260 MPa), Mn13Cr2 jaw plates typically run 400–700 operating hours before reversal or replacement, depending on CSS and feed gradation. We stock OEM Mn13Cr2 plate sets for all 6CX models and recommend keeping one spare set on site.

Is On-site Commissioning Support Available?

Remote commissioning support via video call is included at no charge. On-site engineer dispatch is available as an optional paid service — lead time and cost depend on location. Please discuss before purchase.

What CSS Range does the 6CX Series Support?

CSS range is confirmed at order based on your application. As a guide, 6CX primary crushers typically run at 80–150 mm CSS for coarse primary crushing ahead of a secondary cone, and 50–80 mm for fine primary crushing where tighter secondary feed is required.

Can Impact Plate Gap be Adjusted While the Crusher is Running?

Yes - impact plate position can be adjusted under load via the hydraulic adjustment system (where fitted) or manually via handwheel with the machine running. This allows operators to fine-tune product size during production without stopping the crusher. Full gap inspection and reset is performed during planned maintenance with the rear frame open.
